Aurora
There is a moment just before daybreak when the world is suspended between darkness and light. The landscape is still undefined, and the boundaries between earth, sky, and horizon seem to dissolve.
Aurora explores this quiet encounter between light and matter. Through layers of texture, transparency, and contrast, an abstract landscape gradually emerges. It may evoke weathered mountains, ancient rock formations, distant horizons, or still waters. Equally, it may be read as an inner landscape – shaped by memory, emotion, and the passage of time.
My process is intuitive. Layers are built, concealed, and revealed again, allowing the surface to develop its own history. Light moves across the painting, interacting with its textures and continually revealing new details, much like nature itself at the first light of dawn.
The title Aurora – the Latin word for dawn – speaks not only of the beginning of a new day but also of nature's enduring rhythm. Mountains, stone, and earth have existed long before us and will remain long after we are gone. In that realization lies both humility and hope: a reminder that we are part of something far greater than ourselves.   / Viktoria Lindahl
